Fred Tait Boice, Class of 1948
Cattleman, Business and Community Leader
After graduating from Occidental College in 1952 Fred served as general manager of the family ranch at Arivaca, Arizona. He has been president of the Arizona Cattlegrowers’ Association and a member of the executive committee of the National Cattlegrowers’ Association. Fred received the Distinguished Citizen Award from the College of Agriculture at the University of Arizona.
Fred was a charter member of the Tucson Conquistadors in 1962 and their first Tucson Open Chairman in 1966. He was chairman of the Arizona State Parks Board, director of Trico Electric Cooperative, Inc.; Pima Savings and Loan Association, the Arizona National Livestock show, Arizona Feeds and Northern Trust Company of Arizona. He served as president of the Tucson Airport Authority and Junior Achievement of Tucson. Fred was president of the University of Arizona Foundation, and the Tucson Medical Center Board of Trustees. He currently is a member of the University of Arizona Cancer Center and University Medical Center Statewide Advisory Board, trustee of the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona, the executive committee of the Institute of Children, Youth and Families and a member of the Board of Directors of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
